Flying Zulu edges Amron Tiger to win Group 2 Horsham Cup
Flying Zulu has put his name alongside some of the best sprinters in the country, claiming victory in the 2025 Horsham Cup for Team Thompson.
The $40,000 Group 2 win was a well-earned triumph, especially after the kennel was forced to scratch kennelmate Tim Zoo from the final due to a minor webbing injury.
Flying Zulu delivered when it mattered, holding off a fast-finishing Amron Tiger to claim victory by three-quarters of a length in 26.93 for $3.40 odds with the top greyhound bookmakers.

“He came out beautifully, but Extradited kept him off the fence for a while, and he needed to hold the full 485 to get the job done. But he put his head down when it mattered,” Luke Thompson told GRV post-race.
The race was a thrilling spectacle, with Amron Tiger pushing Flying Zulu all the way, while Zipping Hopkins finished third, just over a length off the winner.
Extradited, who had challenged early, faded late but still ran a strong race to finish fourth.
Flying Zulu’s Horsham Cup win adds another accolade to his already impressive record, with the victory marking his 27th career win from 49 starts and pushing his career earnings beyond $910,000.
With this win, all eyes now turn to what’s next for Flying Zulu.
A potential tilt at the lucrative Sandgroper slot race in Western Australia is on the cards, with Team Thompson having secured a slot for the event.
“He’s one of the best dogs in the country, so the Sandgroper could be in the firing line, but there are a few other races to consider as well,” Thompson added.
